People always look up to Tom Vanderpoel for his knowledge of plant identification and ecosystems. Not only do we learn the weeds we are pulling on these work sessions, but we learn about the native and rare plants we are saving. Since this north-facing wooded sloop is considerably different habitat than our prairie, open savanna or wetland properties, he was kept busy explaining the new set of plants we were seeing.
