On National Public Lands Day,
Saturday September 29, 2001, 13 CFC volunteers enjoy the peaceful setting and a beautiful
day while collecting seeds at Grigsby Prairie. It was a treat to see such rare plants as
Fringed gentian (Gentiana crinita) and Bottle gentian (Gentiana andrewsii) growing on the
prairie. We worked from 9 to 11 am collecting three different kinds of seeds,
Rattle Snake Master (Eryngium yuccifolium), Rosin Weed (Silphium integrifolium),
and Yellow Coneflower (Ratibida pinnata).
