On a snowy Saturday in February (2000), several volunteers are led by Tom Vanderpoel to the scheduled
work area. The first two volunteers (pictured) are carrying the heavy equipment for the day's work.
As is typical in the winter, this day was scheduled for brush clearing - removing European buckthorn
and honeysuckle primarily, but also other brush that normally wouldn't be found in a savanna/prairie
habitat that we have on the Flint Creek Savanna site.
